Shahpura is a town in the district of Jaipur in Rajasthan. It is a walled town, founded in 1629 and was named after the famous Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Shah Jahan reigned from 1628 to 1658 and was probably most famous for his designing of the world famous Taj Mahal in Agra.

The area itself is pretty countryside as well as vast forest & icy & refreshing lakes. It is much an unspoilt & untouched area, a far sob from sizable parts of modern India.

Visitors to Shahpura can enjoy a variety of excursions including bird watching, journeys to the local rural villages and farms as well as a trek to the local temple.

The local people of Shahpura are known to be friendly & the area makes you feel like you have gone back in time. Avid bird watchers & will be spoilt by the bird life that reside in the area. Kingfisher, parakeets & storks are 3 of the 250 different species of bird that inhabit here.
