Palakkad is a town as well as a municipality in the state of Kerala in Southern India. Palakkad lies near the Palghat Gap, which is a pass or natural depression through the Western Ghats ranges. These ranges run parallel to the west coast of India, & they connect Kerala to the plains of the state of Tamil Nadu to the east.

Surrounded by mountains with streams, lush valleys and thick forests rich in flora and fauna, Palakkad enjoys a scenic spot. The valleys in and around Palakkad are very fertile and give the town its moniker of the 'granary of Kerala'. Trekking trails leading from Palakkad make exploring the region feasible and an enjoyable experience. There's as well as a few wildlife sanctuaries nearby.

Asides from its natural beauty, Palakkad has various attractions worth seeking out. Top of the list would be Palakkad Fort, the town's most iconic landmark. Built in 1766 this granite structure sits in 151 acres of land and offers fantastic panoramic views of the town.
