Leh & Ladakh
Leh & Ladakh are ‘other-worldly’ places with Buddhist monasteries perched on soaring hilltops, shattered looking landscapes splashed with little but amazing patches of green & ancient palaces clinging to sheer rock walls.
Day 1: Delhi – Leh
Delhi - Leh. Early morning transfer to the airport for your fight to Leh; on arrival, transfer to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight - Leh & Ladakh

Day 2: Leh & Ladakh
Leh & LadakhLeh is the capital of Ladakh - a huge highland desert lying between the Karakoram & the Himalayan ranges. Ladakh is characterised by a desolate moonlike landscape & snowy peaks. Leh is inhabited predominantly by the Buddhists & accordingly is the centre of Buddhist culture. Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of the town, dominated by Sengge Namgyal’s nine- storey palace, a building in the grand custom of Tibetan architecture. Above it, on Namgyal Semo the peak overlooking the town, are the ruins of the earliest royal residence at Leh a fort built by king Tashi Namgyal in the 16th century. In the bazaar the main sites to visit are the jo khang a contemporary ecumenical Buddhist temple, & an imposing mosque dating from the late 17th century situated opposite each other. Remainder of the day is at leisure. Overnight - Leh & Ladakh

Day 3: Monasteries
Hemis MonasteriesEnjoy a full day tour to Shey, Thiksey & Hemis monasteries. Shey monastery situated on a hilltop is about 15km from Leh, was the summer palace of the royal relatives of Leh. The monastery houses a storey high-seated picture of Buddha cast from copper & covered with gold leaf. Thiksey monastery is situated on a hilltop & the views of the green Indus valley from its rooftop are splendid. This monastery has a variety of chambers filled with statues & stupas. Courtyard murals are bright & this imposing structure is in plenty of respects a replica of Potala Palace in Lhasa. Hemis Gompa is the largest & wealthiest monastery in Ladakh contains a immense number of gold statues, stupas & thangkas, of which is reputed to be the largest in existence & is exhibited one time every 12 years. Overnight - Leh & Ladakh

Day 4: Leh - Delhi
Leh - Delhi. You will be transferred to the airport in time for your fight for Delhi. Late evening you will be transferred to the airport in time for your onward fight.
