Built by the British in the work of the hey day of the Raj, Kasauli is a charming tiny town that seems to exist in a time warp, reminiscent of a by-gone period. Its colonial atmosphere is reinforced by cobbled paths, quaint shops, gabled houses with attractive facades and scores of tidy tiny gardens and orchards.

Mixed forests of chir-pine, Himalayan oak and sizable horse chestnuts surround Kasauli. Its narrow roads wind around the hillsides and offer some magnificent views. Kasauli is of the quietest hill stations due to traffic being restricted on the main roads.

Monkey Hill, the highest point in Kasauli, has a small temple on the top and wonderful views of the region.
