Jhansi
Jhansi MapJhansi is best known for its fort & the involvement in the 1857 Mutiny of its Queen - Rani Lakshmi Bai - & heroine of the Indian Independence movement. It is a useful stopping point enroute from Delhi to Khajuraho. Situated at the neck of a ‘peninsula’ of Uttar Pradesh, Jhansi is as well as a major transport hub for the north of that state.

Tourist Attractions in Jhasi

Jhansi Fort is its main attraction. The nucleus of the Fort was built by Bir Singh Deo in 1613 with concentric walls and ten gates and the views from the ramparts are excellent. Rani Mahal, the former palace of Lakshmi Bai’s is now a museum with a collection of hundreds of sculptures.
