Igatpuri is surrounded by the highest peaks in Sahyaadri the Western Ghats, most of which are forts built in the coursework of the Satavahana dynasty. Surrounded by surging waterfalls, lush forests and tranquil lakes, this hill station is heavenly for trekkers and hikers. Camel Valley is perhaps the most popular trekking location, in the coursework of the monsoon season when the area comes alive with swelling creeks and flowing cascades. Its natural beauty lends well to film and most Bollywood-movie outdoor scenes, songs, are shot in the Igatpuri region.

Tringalwadi Lake is of the prettiest in the area & offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding valley. Sitting above the lake at an elevation of three,000 feet above sea level, the magnificent Tringalwadi Fort is well worth a visit with a marvelous temple dedicated to lord Hanuman & striking views of the mountain ranges & Tringalwadi sitting below.

Besides its scenic settings, Igatpuri is also known for its lovely temples & the popular dish vada pav, a vegetarian fast food dish consisting of spicy potato deep fried in a gram flour batter.
