Guruvayoor MapGuruvayoor in the Thrissur district of Kerala & millions of devotees visit every year. The Guruvayoorappan Temple is the main attraction. The divine idol installed here represents the type of Sree Krishna endowed with the lustrous arms carrying the conch Panchajanya, the discus Sudarshana Chakra, the mace Kaumodaki & the lotus. Thulabharam is where the devotee provides offerings ranging from oil, sugar, coconuts to silver, gold & precious stones equal to the weight of the devotee himself or his kid.

Punnathur Kotta is located in Kottapadi, near Guruvayoor This was a palace of a local ruler and now famous for the elephant pound (Anakkotta in local language, literally translated as 'Elephant Fort') where the elephants belonging to the Guruvayoor temple are kept. Elephants are trained here for purposes related to temples. The pound currently has about 64 elephants. All of them came here as offerings by devotees of Lord Guruvayurappa and the oldest elephant is around 75 years of age.

Mammiyoor temple is a Shiva temple near Guruvayoor temple. The temple is an element of the 108 famous Shiva temples in Kerala and among the Shiva Temples around Guruvayoor, the others being Chowwallur, Perunthatta, Perakam and Parambanthali. They are believed to be the faces of Shiva.
